Common Problems and Solutions

Platform: PC
Crash issues

Please ensure that your system meets the minimum requirements for the game that you are experiencing an issue with.

To find the minimum required specification for a game, please locate its Steam Store listing and the System Requirements section on the page.

If your system does meet the games requirements, please ensure that your graphics drivers are fully up to date. To locate and install the latest drivers for your system please follow the appropriate link below:

NVIDIA: http://www.geforce.co.uk/drivers

AMD/ATI: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

Intel: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/

If you believe that you meet the requirements for a game and that your drivers are up to date, please attempt to resolve any potential issues with the games local data by performing a file cache integrity check.

Please find the steps below for instructions on how to do this:

  1. Load Steam
  2. From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
  3. Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache… button.
  4. Steam will verify the game’s files – this process may take several minutes.
  5. Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.
Input device problems

In some cases, multiple input peripherals can confuse the game.

Please disconnect all non- essential USB and Bluetooth connections to your system and attempt to play the game again.

If you are still experiencing this issue, it may be that there is an issue with some of the games local data.

Please find the steps below for instructions on how to resolve issues of this nature:

  1. Load Steam
  2. From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
  3. Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache… button.
  4. Steam will verify the game’s files – this process may take several minutes.
  5. Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.

Finally, it might be that you are missing essential drivers to use your input device with a game.

To fix this, please locate your device on the manufacturers support page and install any appropriate driver updates for your system.

Audio problems

Please ensure that both your system volume and any in-game audio settings are appropriately set.

If you are experiencing an issue with volume enabled, please run a file cache integrity check to resolve any corruption of local data:

Please find the steps below for instructions on how to do this:

  1. Load Steam
  2. From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
  3. Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache… button.
  4. Steam will verify the game’s files – this process may take several minutes.
  5. Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.
Download problems

If you are experiencing issues downloading a game from the Steam platform, please check to ensure that your internet connection is working and whether there are any service outages being reported by Steam. If your connection is working and Steam isn’t reporting any service faults, please contact Steam support directly: https://support.steampowered.com/

Multiplayer issues

If you are unable to access the multiplayer elements of a game at all, it might be that there is a fault with your network connection or with the Steam service. Please be sure to confirm that neither of these are the case.

If you are struggling to find a particular user or locate games, it might be that there is a poor configuration preventing you from contacting the servers. To resolve this, please follow the steps below:

  1. Launch Steam
  2. Click Steam in the top left of the client
  3. Open the Settings menu
  4. Navigate to the Downloads section
  5. Expand the Download Region and choose UK – London (Or most appropriate server location)
  6. Set the bandwidth limit to No Limit (Unless you are on a limited data plan)
