Common Problems and Solutions

Crash issues

Crashing may be the result of damaged game data or missing resources that the game relies on.

To ensure that you have the required resources, please check that all of your software is fully up to date by following the steps below;

  1. Select the Apple Menu
  2. Select Software Update
  3. If you don’t see Mac OS X Update on this list, your system is already up-to-date. If you do see Mac OS X Update on the list, place a check mark next to it.
  4. Select Install Item.

NOTE: If you are using a Mac with an ATI or NVIDIA Graphics card, following these steps will also show if your graphics card needs updating.

Should the issue persist and you’re not running the title through Steam, please attempt a full re-installation of the game to ensure that you have a clean copy from the store.

If you are running the game through Steam, please follow these steps:

  1. Load Steam
  2. From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
  3. Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache… button.
  4. Steam will verify the game’s files – this process may take several minutes.
  5. Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.
Input device problems

In some cases, multiple input peripherals can confuse the game.

Please disconnect all non- essential USB and Bluetooth connections to your system and attempt to play the game again.

If you are using standard Apple input devices, it might be that you are running on out-dated hardware drivers. Please follow the steps below to ensure that your system is fully up to date:

  1. Select the Apple Menu
  2. Select Software Update
  3. If you don’t see Mac OS X Update on this list, your system is already up-to-date. If you do see Mac OS X Update on the list, place a check mark next to it.
  4. Select Install Item.

If you are not using Apple hardware, please navigate to the driver downloads / support page of the devices manufacturer and install any appropriate drivers.

If you are still experiencing this issue, it may be that there is an issue with some of the games local data. To resolve issues such as this, please fully re-install the game.

Audio problems

Audio issues may be the result of damaged game data or missing resources that the game relies on.

To ensure that you have the required resources, please check that all of your software is fully up to date by following the steps below;

  1. Select the Apple Menu
  2. Select Software Update
  3. If you don’t see Mac OS X Update on this list, your system is already up-to-date. If you do see Mac OS X Update on the list, place a check mark next to it.
  4. Select Install Item.

While it may sound obvious, please also ensure that the Audio settings for the game are not disabled and that your system is not muted or connected headphones.

Additionally, it might be that you are missing essential drivers for your speakers or sound card.

To fix this, please locate your device on the manufacturers support page and install any appropriate driver updates for your system.

Download issues

If your download has been interrupted and you are struggling to resume it, please follow the link below for steps from Apple:

If you are unable to connect to the store, please double check your connection to the internet and then pursue support directly from Apple.

Multiplayer issues

For Steam:

If you are unable to access the multiplayer elements of a game at all, it might be that there is a fault with your network connection or with the Steam service. Please be sure to confirm that neither of these are the case.

If you are struggling to find a particular user or locate games, it might be that there is a poor configuration preventing you from contacting the servers. To resolve this, please follow the steps below:

  1. Launch Steam
  2. Click Steam in the top left of the client
  3. Open the Settings menu
  4. Navigate to the Downloads section
  5. Expand the Download Region and choose UK – London (Or most appropriate server location)
  6. Set the bandwidth limit to No Limit (Unless you are on a limited data plan)
